Redemption Roasters commenced operations in Aylesbury Young Offenders Prison with a mission to help reduce re-offending rates by skilling up the young people to help them find jobs and reintegrate into society. They are trained in competition-level barista skills.
The project has now expanded to more prisons and now also has an enlarged roastery facility in HMP The Mount near Hemel Hempstead.
Small batches of beans are expertly roasted led by a Head Roaster and Assistant Roaster who also train professional roasting skills. So not only is the coffee ethically sourced but the roasting process is socially responsible too.
